‪#‎outsourcingmustfall‬ activist abducted in Mthatha

Press Release: ‪#‎outsourcingmustfall‬ activist abducted in Mthatha!
                          (29th March 2016)

Dear comrades,

Vusi Mahlangu is an activist in the End Outsourcing movement at Walter Sisulu University in Mthatha in Eastern Cape.

Yesterday morning at 10, he alighted from a taxi intending to address workers there. As he alighted, men in civilian clothes abducted him at gunpoint.

Vusi managed to get a test message out later that read "I am either kidnapped or arrested and I am bleeding... In a dark place at Mthatha, my phone is about to die."

Police have refused to open a case.

We need to pressure Walter Sisulu University to look into the case and get the police to act.

We are asking comrades to phone or call the following:

Professor K Mfenyana (Vice Chancellor & Principal) - Tel 047 502 2213 / 2200 + Email vicechancellor@wsu.ac.za

Also contact the security companies that Vusi suspects abducted him:
Xhobani Security - Tel 047 531 2430 + 1st Floor, Metropolitan Life Building, 23 Nelson Mandela Drive, Mthatha

Red Alert Security - Tel 043 703 4701 + Email redalert@redalert.co.za

An example of a message that can be sent is:

Vusi Oldman Mahlangu, a leading activist in the #outsourcingmustfall campaign is missing. He was last seen at 10am yesterday after organising campaigns at WSU!

He sent one message at 4.30pm that read: "I am either kidnapped or arrested and I am bleeding... In a dark place at Mthatha, my phone is about to die."

We have very little information except that Vusi suspects that either Xhobani security or Red Alert Security may be involved. He has informed us that he was taken from a taxi and forcibly placed into a car which took him to an unknown location where he was assaulted. Fellow activists have reported this information to Madera Police Station.

We hold you directly responsible!

Vusi has been mobilising for the ‪#outsourcingmustfall campaign at Walter Sisulu University because contracted private companies such as Red Alert and and Xhobani Security at the university are key suspects.

Assist with locating this activist!

For more information and if you know anything about his whereabouts please contact Vuyo on 084 648 8223.
