Unfamiliar Reminders of the Familiar

Recently uncovered some notes from my meanderings around the Cape before I had a semblance of a home here. Here is one:

In moving from home, I have found so much. Productions and mixes from 2010 and earlier. (Reminds me...pick up my leftover CDs and DVDs from Thekwane) I found some things from the Creative Gutter. Those who were there know what went down.
At some point we were mixing, producing and recording and editing the works that filled our time. Be it Poetry, experimental Jungle, new ways to intervene with governance and all kinds of mad, sacred and profane things. Somewhere within there, we built and broke each other. I don't know if I believe that things are strongest where they were once broken. Sunshine, Nkulunkulu, Long Man, Levanon and Kaijin. Ah the times!

Nostalgia grips me by the short and curlies. Yaks me back to sittings in private symposia, guided by Ableton Live and a thirst for a world within our ethic.Moments of building ideas and fashioning universes to to host them. I didn't know much about Chaos Magick back then but I was practicing like a weak neophyte. Sporadic results here and there. but damnit, we made it work. I have to wonder what the Nowadayz Poets are doing lately. Do they teach Poetry in high schools as we did? When last has Nowadayz Poets had a set at Poetry Africa? I just wonder what the generation we left behind in that City of Durban aspire to.

Btu today, here I sit in this semi-familiar environment. Been here once. This watering hole i inhabit has my stamp on it as do a few more in this town. Memories are interposing on present lessons. I am looking at many worlds at once. They dance in and out of perception like clouds behind Table mountain. What a thing.

The work that lies before me is to assemble my worlds using multiple platforms and get it into some recognizable form. And it must be recognized as much as I. This is done for the influence. not for attention's sake. I have been constantly stepping in and out of the house of power.

The Creative Gutter reminds.
